POSITION: Respite Provider

Job Summary:

Responsible to provide temporary care for clients with physical, emotional, or cognitive limitations. Including coordinate care with primary caregivers, provide companionship and supervising activities.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • 1.At least one year demonstrating experience in a similar role and working knowledge of CPR and first aid. Experience related to health programs (hospital, non-medical home care, nursing facility or hospice).
  • 2.Certified home health aide (CHHA) preferred.
  • 3.Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills including ability to effectively communicate with clients.
  • 4.Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • 5.Extensive experience in supervising and assisting clients as well as engaging them in suitable activities.
  • 6.Experience in monitoring clients’ conditions and administering prescribed medications.
  • 7.Ability to perform basic housekeeping tasks, prepare meals and run errands.
  • 8.Exceptional interpersonal skills, a caring approach and physical fitness.
  • 9.Ability to ensure clients safety and provide comfort.
  • 10.Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, routines and standard accepted practices.

Responsibilities/essential functions:

The person in this position must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • 1.Serve as the agency’s internal resource for providing ill, elderly, or disabled clients with assistance, companionship, and comfort.
  • 2.Administering prescribed medications and monitoring vital signs.
  • 3.Assessing the physical, mental, and emotional conditions of clients.
  • 4.Facilitation appropriate professional intervention when required.
  • 5.Engaging clients in suitable activities such as socializing, playing games or reading out loud.
  • 6.Assisting clients with mobility, personal hygiene, eating and drinking.
  • 7.Accompanying clients on medical appointments and outings.
  • 8.Performing general household duties such as cleaning, cooking, and shopping.
  • 9.Maintaining a hygienic and safe environment

Environmental Elements

Employee works in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
